Already Mahindra had launched XUV500 which has obtained decent sales in the Indian market. After the launch of this power packed SUV, Mahindra had planned to introduce a cut-price version of the XUV500 crossover couple of years ago back in March 2012. According to the information obtained by EarthFusion, Mahindra’s cut price variant of XUV500 would serve as the base variant of the existing XUV 500 at a price below 10 lakh INR which would give tight competition to the Ford EcoSport and Renault Duster.
As a result of the recent budget, all the SUV’s in the Indian market has undergone price revision. In spite of this increased price, Mahindra has planned to introduce an entry level XUV500, so it is obvious that this entry level car would have some of the features being removed from the existing XUV500 which is in fact loaded with lots of features.
Coming to the specifications of the W4 version of XUV500, The Company will introduce a refreshed center console and will also provide the same 2.2-litre turbo diesel power train mated to a six speed manual transmission which would deliver 15.1 kmpl (as per ARAI test). Apart from this, the entry-level XUV500 would not have ABS, EBD, light sensing headlamps, rain sensing wipers, driver information system, micro hybrid technology, reverse parking sensors, fog lamps, in-built infotainment system and roof rails when compared to the existing XUV500.
