Although almost Indian auto companies are experiencing the sales decreasing from the past few months, Royal Enfield has been forging ahead where their sales figures are concerned. Royal Enfield is well-known for their Classic Chrome and Bullet has now launched the new Thunderbird 500cc and 350cc which is expected to take their sales targets to a new level.
In 2010, the sales stood at 53,000 units which jumped to 75,000 units in the year 2011 while this year the sales are expected to cross the 1 lakh mark before the end-2012. The RE Thunderbird 350 was launched wayback in 2002 the company still manages to sell about 1,000 units per month. To keep the momentum going, Royal Enfield will be launching Cafe Racer 500 model sometime in 2013 and its expected to be lightest Royal Enfield motorcycle ever.
The Cafe Racer 500 was unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo held in New Delhi earlier this-year. To maintain the true cafe racer style, the seat is stretched for the rider to crouch on the tank during high speed runs. Except designing and rear disk all, other features are same as Thunderbird 500 like projector headlight, fuel injection, gas-charged suspension, rear disc brake, digital LCD console. The Cafe Racer will be an important chapter in the Indian motorcycling history given that this motorcycle will be the first cafe racer to be designed, developed and launched in India.
