Royal Enfield’s entire motorcycle range is now BSIV compliant and also gains Auto Headlamp On (AHO) as standard, with a price raise by Rs. 3000 – 4000/- depending on the model.
Spotted the 2017 Electra 350 with AHO, Royal Enfield has removed the headlamp switch from it.
Although the official statement is yet to be released, Royal Enfield dealerships across the country have commenced bookings for the new models of the complete range that includes the Bullet 350 & 500, Thunderbird 350 & 500, Classic 350 & 500 series, Himalayan and the Continental GT. All of these models have now the AHO and the BSIV engines. There will be no changes in engine output, though.
Unfortunately, as we all had hoped, the company has not given rear disc in the Electra, Bullet and Classic like the recent ones introduced in the UK. Furthermore, Royal Enfield has not included ABS in any of its models including Himalayan and the Continental GT. This is a disappointment! As these Enfields’ do run on Euro-IV engines, and they get ABS and rear disc brake units elsewhere in the world.
The company has increased the prices of the entire range by up to ₹ 4000 due to inclusion of the new features.
With the Indian government planning to make ABS mandatory from 2018-19 on all motorcycles above 250cc displacement, and with RE having all their models above this capacity, we should see this feature soon.

- Classic Chrome – Rs 2.01 lakh
- Bullet 500 – Rs 1.79 lakh
- Continental GT – Rs 2.26 lakh
- Himalayan – Rs 1.77 lakh
- Classic Desert storm – Rs 1.93 lakh
