MotorOctane is reporting that the Renault’s entry-level car, which is waiting be launched on May 20, will probably be known as the Renault Kayou. The company has been utilizing the name “Ka” or “Ca” for its new-gen crossover and the XBA, which purportedly accompanies crossover motivated configuration, could be the smallest individual from the line-up.

Sources also tell MotorOctane that the base model would be evaluated at INR 2.5 lakhs (on-road) and there would be around 3-4 petrol variants of the model, sadly won’t get a diesel engine option. Like the Duster and Lodgy in Europe, the XBA too will be badged as a Dacia and be made at the Moroccan plant with a sub-5000 Euro (INR 3.32 lakh) sticker, sitting beneath the Sandero.
Renault India Managing Director & CEO Sumit Sawhney has told the good folks back at IndianAutosBlog that the “third volume pillar” would be propelled to Indian clients not long from now and that it is a global car”. He said that the organization would study exporting more cars from India, and not only for the Duster.

The sub-Pulse model would be in view of the CMF-A platform and come strapped with an 800 cc petrol motor, codenamed B4A. The three-pot motor will deliver 45-50 bhp of force, and will be mated to a 5-speed manual transmission, the report claims. At a later stage, the company could announce a more powerful 1.0-litre motor (Codename: BR10) and AMT (automated manual transmission) option.
The XBA is speculated to become a night mare to its direct rivals – Maruti Suzuki Alto 800 and Hyundai Eon.
