Renault’s Indian run has not been as successful as it would have expected to. Barring the Duster, not even a single car from its stable has been able to create ripples in the Indian automobile arena. Renault’s upcoming hatchback, codenamed as the XBA has been spotted on quite a few times on the Indian roads and will be launched in May-2015.
The XBA will be the cheapest offering from Renault in its worldwide lineup.
Due for making a big appearance not long from now, the XBA will be the least expensive Renault car globally. The company plans to put the XBA at a cost of under Rs. 4 lakh which would pit it against the likes of Maruti Alto and Hyundai Eon. The sub Rs 4 lakh segment in India is one of the most popular ones and Renault would be looking to grab a share of this pie.
It will be based on the CMF-A platform. The XBA will be powered by a 3-cylinder, 800cc, petrol engine together developed by Renault & Nissan. The car will be made at the Chennai facility and will be intensely limited to accomplish expense advantages. Reports additionally propose that other than a 5-speed manual transmission, Renault could likewise offer an AMT in the Indian market.
Renault won’t launch the XBA with a diesel model, thinking of it as is an A/ B1 fragment hatchback. It will share the underpinnings with the upcoming Datsun Redi-Go and India will play host to being an export hub for the hatchback.
