The French auto maker Renault is going to relaunch the diesel Fluence, earlier only offered in a basic trim will soon be available in a more upmarket avatar. This new variant, expected in November this year, will have all the goodies that are currently available only on its E4 petrol sibling, like twin-zone air conditioning, cruise control, auto headlamps, rain-sensing wipers and even beige interiors.
An increased preference for diesel cars due to rising petrol prices makes this upgrade a very wise move on Renault’s part. The current diesel-powered version (E2 trim) with its black interiors, manual air conditioning and manual transmission, lacked the upmarket features that come as standard on its competitors.
The additional features on the diesel Fluence mean a bumped-up price tag too. Expect the E4 Fluence diesel to cost around Rs. 15.20 lakh or Rs 80,000 more than the current E4 petrol variant (Rs 14.40 lakh). However, the upgrade is sure to help Renault take on the competition better.
