Earlier this month, we reported about the vehicles showcased at DEFEXPO 2012, held at Pragati Maidan, New Delhi. Now we will be talking about the Renault Sherpa Light Military Truck after having reported to you with details on the products of Ashok Leyland and Tata showcased at the event.
The entire range of Sherpa Light vehicles from Renault are specifically designed keeping needs of defense in mind. They are suitable for transportation of defense infantry, paratroopers and other security personnel and has been designed as an off and on road vehicle. It is fitted with a MD5 diesel engine offering 292 PS power.
Each of these Renault Light Military Vehicles are equipped with 4×4 system, automatic gearbox, air-conditioning, hydraulic power steering and retractable electric winch in the front and rear. They are also fitted with run flat tyres and central tyre inflation system with anti lock braking. These vehicles are also seen in both armored and non-armored versions with ballistic and mine kits to be fitted to any of the variants.
Sherpa Light Scout has a range of 1000 kms and a top speed of 110 km per hour. Ability to transport four to five soldiers and a roof mounted weapon system. Sherpa Station wagon can transport upto 6 soldiers while the Armored Personnel Carrier can transport 10 soldiers with ample space available for equipment.
