A new hatchback from the French car manufacturer, Renault is expected to launch fifth car lined up for India this year, Renault Modus. It will be a close rival of Maruti Ritz, Ford Figo in the entry-level hatchback segment is finally coming. The under Rs 4 lakh car is expected to be based on new platform other than V platform on which the Nissan Micra and its sibling Renault Pulse that was recently launched in India is based. As per reports, the new Renault Modus will be built at the Chennai facility.
Though Renault Modus launch in India was imminent but following some issues, there was dillydallying on the part of Renault. The company wanted to take more time to assess the market and prepare a ground for the Renault small car to be launched in India. The Renault Modus is in fact one of the tried and tested models of the French car biggies and has been across globe since 2004.
Out of the five models slated for India, three are already launched and one was unveiled at the Auto Expo. These include: Renault Fluence sedan which was the debut car in India, followed by Renault Koleos SUV and recently launched Renault Pulse small car. The Duster will be launched in June and the Renault Modus launch is expected soon after may be this Diwali.
The under Rs 4 lakh priced car will be competing with Maruti Ritz, Ford Figo and others. It is expected that a new generation Renault Modus will be launched in India as the current Renault Modus is quite old and is in need of a serious makeover. There are also possibilities that Renault will be exporting Modus from India after it hits production in here.
