The above pictures are the firstever spyshots of Renault’s small was caught testing in Chennai by a reader from TeamBHP. The cars badges were masked but it could not us from identifying the car which is the Renault Modus.
Under the hood Modus can accommodate 1.2ltr, 1.4ltr or 1.6ltr gasoline engine or a 1.5dCi oil burner. The engine may get a five speed manual gear box in our market. The upper variant may get a six speed auto box as well. Modus comes with a unique feature, adjustable rear bench which allow adjusting the luggage space to suit various requirements.
Renault will unveil the small car in India at the 2012 Auto Expo with the launch in mid 2012. The small destined for India is based on the V platform on which the Nissan Micra is based.
So will Modus be the car for India? Earlier Volkswagen was also testing the Seat Ibiza in Mumbai, which was being tested as Polo in disguise.
