French Car manufacturer, Renault India has issued recalls for the Scala sedan and Pulse hatchbacks. The recall was expected since Nissan first recalled the Sunny and Micra models just two days back. The issue, faulty Master Brake Cylinders, is the same as the Nissan models. The Sunny/Scala sedan and Micra/Pulse hatchback models are manufactured at the Chennai plant, which both manufacturers share.
Renault has issued recalls for 2836 Pulse and 4180 Scala units manufactured between June 2012 and March 2013. Renault will contact individual owners affected by the recall and Renault dealers will replace the faulty part free of cost.
Though no accidents were reported due to this defect and there is no compulsion or rule by the government to issue a recall, it is nice to see the manufacturer coming forward with a preventive measure, which sends a positive message about the brand to the customers.
Meanwhile, another Japanese carmaker Toyota has also recalled the 1000 units of Toyota Corolla Altis built between the 3rd August 2012 and 14th February 2013 to replace the driveshaft. It also is replacing the driveshaft free of cost.
