Tata Motors which is one of the best heavy vehicle manufacturers in India has also made humongous growth over the years in the sales of the vehicles for the consumers in the Indian market which may be in the form of Nano, Safari, Indica Vista and so on. Tata Indica XL, an enlarged version of the normal Indica was initially spotted by IAB back in 2011.
Mr. Amit Sagar, head of Indica product group reported that Tata Indica XL would be an enlarged version of the Indigo Sedan that would offer more leg room at the rear and would not be classified as an MPV. According to MotorBeam, Tata Indica XL which had been under test over a couple of years since it was last spotted has now been axed by Tata Motors since the company believes that rear seat space is barely prioritized by customer in hatchbacks.
Adding extra space to the existing model calls for the car to be completely re-engineered along with which it also has to come up with features which are offered currently in the Indian market. The company also has to increase the AC compressor unit in order to provide comfort for the additional space being added. With such changes, Tata Motors will have to increase the price of the car which would reach the price of the Indica Vista. Since the company has already introduced Indica Vista which provides ample space at the rear, the production of the Tata Indica XL has been axed.
Tata Indica has been in the market for 15-years now, and fresh set of reports suggest its production would come to an end by 2015. On the other-hand, the company is said to be working on a new hatchback codenamed X0, based on Indica platform which is believed to hit showrooms sometime in 2015.
