The Ford Endeavour has been the SUV in India which has had a cult following no matter what came and went. The Toyota Fortuner may be the segment leader but the Endeavour has its own class of followers. The old school design SUV has been quite popular in India with the northern part of the country having a special affinity for the car and today we have the rendering of the 2014 Ford Endeavour for you.
The Ford Endeavour is based on the Ford Ranger pick up and is essentially a 5-door variant of the pickup. It is known as Ford Everest globally and the car will get a facelift in 2014 which would resemble its pick up variant. This would probably be the last refresh in the life cycle of the SUV before the car gets a major overhaul and the next generation of the SUV gets launched.
The interiors will be carried from the Ford Fiesta and it will have a 3 row seating arrangement with the last row being foldable to liberate more luggage space. The car will get 3 engine options which would be the 2.2 TDCI, 2.5 TDCI and 3.0 TDCI motors. A petrol variant is speculated with a 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine but we would not get our hopes too high for that. The car will be offered in 2-wheel and 4-wheel drive variants as well.
The engines are expected to be mated to automatic gearbox as well in addition to the manual gearbox. The 2014 Endeavour will form a prt of Ford’s plans for India to launch 8 new models in the country by the time the year 2015 ends. It will be built at the company’s plant in Chennai via the CKD route according to us with the kits coming from Thailand. The biggest and the meanest SUV in the 20 lakh segment is about to get meaner and bigger.
