Nissan announced last week that it has started checking vehicles built in Japan for any traces of radioactive material.

“Looking ahead, we will continue to implement all appropriate measures to reassure the public that all products from our company remain within globally accepted safety standards and until we are confident that any risk of contamination is completely removed,” Nissan said in a statement.

If you’ve been following the crisis in Japan, the massive 8.9 magnitude earthquake caused a huge tsunami that ended up flooding and damaging a nuclear power plant north of Tokyo.
