Nissan India today assumed leadership of the online space by becoming the first auto manufacturer to receive such tremendous response on Facebook. Their fan following has crossed 500,000 making it the first Indian auto company to reach such popularity. Nissan launched a new campaign – New Star of India on Facebook four months ago. Twenty lucky candidates will get a chance to act alongside Ranbir Kapoor in his new movie.
The campaign which commenced in October last year received over 2300 short clippings of persons dancing so as to get a chance to dance with Bollywood superstar Ranbir Kapoor while auditions were held in major shopping malls of major cities of India.
Mr. Kiminobu Tokuyama, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India Pvt. Ltd said that this was one innovative way of increasing their business. Directly communicating with fans via Facebook and with Ranbir Kapoor as star of the show was a novel way of increasing company popularity and awareness. Trailers of New Stars of India have already started appearing on www.facebook.com/nissanindia while the actual launch event will take place at the beginning of March 2012.
