News has come that Nissan have recently expressed that the next gen Micra will arrive in India. The Micra was launched in international markets last year and has received a positive response there. Nissan will position the Micra as a premium hatch here and it’s launch will coincide with those of premium hatchers confirmed for India, from other automakers.
Currently, Nissan is working on an India-spec version for the car, by which it may come at an affordable price. This is because the all new platform which underpins the Micra internationally, may increase the price of the car. It will be based on the CMF-A platform, which is of low cost.
The car will come with features like touchscreen infotainment system, LED DRLs, ABS, airbags, automatic climate control and so on. Engine wise, the car will be powered by a 1.5 litre petrol engine seen on the Duster. This engine Is capable of producing 106 BHP of power and will spawn many cars in the Renault-Nissan alliance.
Nissan will bring the Micra to the Indian market sometime in 2019. When launched, the Micra will compete with the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz along with a premium hatchers from Tata and new Volkswagon Polo which will be launched around the same time. It looks certain that Nissan will re-stratergize their ideas and plans for the Indian market.
