New TVS StaR City+ – Cosmetic Changes
TVS Motor Company has launched the new StaR City+ in India priced at Rs 44,000 (ex-showroom Delhi) at an event in Chennai. The new StaR City+ was first showcased at the 2014 Delhi Auto Expo in February this-year, the new Star City+ is an updated version of Star City 110cc motorcycle with a retuned version of the 110cc engine.
The new StaR City+ has several added features as well as cosmetic changes and will be available in two variants – ES (electric start) and KS (kick start). The bike competes against the Honda Dream Yuga, Mahindra Centuro, Suzuki Hayate, Bajaj Discover 100 Series and the Hero Passion xPro in the segment.
Compared to the outgoing model, the new StaR City+ gets a higher capacity air filer, an optimized carburetor, a higher capacity clutch and anti-wear moly coated piston which claims to improve the engine life by 40 percent. Other features in the motorcycle include a stainless steel muffler guard, chrome finished handlebars, colored shock absorbers, electric start, alloy wheels, power/economy mode, service indicator and a dual tone seat.
New TVS StaR City+ – Speedometer
The new StaR City+ also gets a new and improved body graphics, while overall design remains the same as StaR City. Features on-board include a new instrument cluster with an analogue speedometer and a digital information display, with service reminder and fuel economy indicator. Furthermore, the TVS claims that a new Dura Life tyres provide 12 percent more grip and 20 percent better life.
Under the skin, the new StaR City+ is powered by a revised ‘Ecothrust’ 110cc DLI engine which produces 8.1 Bhp and 8.1 Nm of torque. Mated to a 4-speed gearbox, the engine is capable of propelling the bike to a top speed of 90 kmph. TVS claims an efficiency of 86 kmpl for the StaR City+ in the test cycle. The StaR City+ will be available in four colour options – Celebrity Scarlet, Oscar Black, Show Stopper Blue and Titanium Grey.
