Toyota recently showcased the Yaris sedan at the recently held Auto Expo in Greater Noida. The Yaris sedan is scheduled for launch in mid-2018. Now, reports have emerged that Toyota is also keen on bringing the Yaris Cross to India.
Basically a rugged-version of its Yaris hatchback, Toyota have developed this car for developing markets. We can expect Toyota to unveil it in India as well, since India falls in that bracket. Launch is expected to take place sometime next-year.
Talking about the design, the Yaris Cross sports a rugged Crossover like look consisting of black cladding, roof rails and brush metal skid-plates at the front and rear bumpers. It is expected to have a lot of space inside, and the higher trims may even sport leather upholstery in the seat. Features include Automatic climate control, airbags, ABS, a touchscreen infotainment system and so-on.
Engine-wise, the Yaris Cross will employ a 1.5-litre, 4-cylinder petrol engine. This engine is capable of producing 107 BHP of power and 140 Nm of Torque. It may either carry a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed CVT transmission.
Prices for the Yaris Cross is expected to start from Rs. 8-12 lakhs. Rivals include the Hyundai i20 Active, Volkswagen Cross Polo and the Fiat Urban Cross. Expect the car to come with good equipment’s at the time of it’s launch.
