Toyota India has unveiled the Yaris sedan at the 2018 Auto Expo. It is good that the company has decided not to use the Vios name nor the Yaris Ativ name for this model in Indian market.
The new sedan is expected to go on-sale in April this-year positioned below the Corolla Altis, competing with the likes of Maruti Ciaz, Hyundai Verna and Honda City in the country. Sadly only the petrol models will be on offer with manual and automatic gearbox option, since Toyota has chosen not to go diesel with this new car anytime soon.
Internationally, this car is available with a 1.2-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine, a 1.3-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine, and a 1.5-litre Dual VVT-i petrol engine. The Indian-spec version will get a 1.5-litre dual VVT-i petrol engine with the option of a 6-speed manual or 7-speed CVT auto.
