As per the reports obtained, Dr. Winfried Vahland, chairman of Skoda has confirmed that Skoda would introduce a large SUV later in 2016. This upcoming SUV would be built based on Volkswagen’s CrossBlue concept. Volkswagen recently unveiled the CrossBlue this month as a US only car in Detroit.

This recent launch has forced the Volkswagen’s officials from various other markets to convince the board in order to also introduce this large SUV into their markets. In fact the CrossBlue concept would be the largest SUV to be added into Volkswagen’s collection which is based on the latest MQB platform.

VW’s large concept SUV would be around 4.6 meters long and will also be available in 2WD and 4WD technologies. It would be powered with a 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine along with 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engines, and diesel-electric hybrid technology (as already showcased in the concept car). Skoda’s design chief Mr. Josef Kaban also expressed that Skoda’s upcoming large SUV would be bolder and more provocative, straying from the conservative styling of mainstream Skoda’s like the Fabia and Octavia.
