New Maruti Swift test drive cars have slowly began appearing at some dealer yards across the country, although the cars officially haven’t gotten around to the Maruti showrooms yet, to offer prospective Swift buyers test drives. On the Maruti Swift Facebook Page, user Rohitash Sinha posted these pics of the Swift diesel test drive vehicles captured from a Maruti Suzuki dealer yard.
The new Swift bows in on the 17th of this month (the same day as the new VW Jetta). As we reported earlier bookings for New Maruti Swift has amazingly clocked 40,000 without the announcement of the specifications and price in India. However that said, waiting period will be around three months unless you own a dealership or know someone who does very closely.
The all-new Swift looks quite similar in styling to the outgoing model being phased out but is, in fact, built on the all-new platform. Each body panel is new and bigger than its predecessors in every dimension. The interiors get some styling cues from the larger Kizashi saloon, particularly in its centre console. Like the outgoing model, the new Swift will spawn a saloon variant under four metres.
One change that is very unique to the Indian Swift is the turn indicators on the outer rear view mirror. The new Swift Diesel also gets the airbags-ABS equipped ZDI top end variant, which was previously missing in the outgoing Swift’s line up.
Refresher – While the petrol variant of the new Swift will be powered by a 1.2-litre, 84bhp K-series motor, the diesel will be powered by a 1.3-litre unit sourced from Fiat.
The Swift will take on the Ford Figo, Nissan Micra, Skoda Fabia, Volkswagen Polo, Fiat Punto and the recently launched Toyota Liva.
