New Maruti Alto K10 to be launched today

The changes introduced in the all-new Alto K10 are both cosmetic and mechanical changes making the facelift Alto K10 undoubtedly more dynamic and aggressive then the outgoing model. On the exterior, the new Alto K10 does resemble the Alto 800 but the differences in design aren’t too small to miss. Compared to the outgoing model, the new Alto K10 is shorter in length and height than the outgoing car but is wider and gets the same wheel base.

On the inside too, the new Alto K10 looks fresh and modern with a re-designed dashboard with a new instrument cluster and a new steering wheel. The blue-black interiors of the old car are gone and the new Alto K10 gets a black-beige colour scheme with silver accents. The top of the line VXi(O) variant will be equipped with features such as driver airbag, fog lamps, keyless entry, central locking, piano finish music system with CD, USB and Aux-in support.

Under the hood, although the new Alto K10 gets the same engine that does duty in the outgoing model – a 998 cc, 3-cylinder unit which develops 68 PS and 90 Nm of torque, mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox, the major highlight is the addition of the Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) which is seen on the Celerio, thus making it the most affordable automatic car in the country. The AMT would be available in the VXi variant, and other trims will get a 5-speed manual transmission.

The new Alto K10 will return 24.07 kmpl for both manual and AMT, which is much more fuel-efficient than the outgoing K10’s 20.92 kmpl. The new Alto K10 will also be offered in a CNG variant with an efficiency of 32.26 km/kg.
