A couple of days before, GM India launched the new Cruze in the first phase at New Delhi. Today, it completed the second phase having launched the new Cruze in Mumbai with prices starting from Rs 14.53 lakh. The new Cruze will be available in three trim levels: LT – Rs 14.53 lakh, LTZ at Rs 15.49 lakh and LTZ (A) at Rs 16.44 lakh, ex-Mumbai.
As we already stated in our previous news coverage, the updates for the new Cruze are mainly under the hood with its new FAM Z 2.0L engine mated to a 6-speed manual and auto transmission, which is now capable of churning out 163bhp and 360Nm of torque, making the Cruze the most powerful sedan in its class. Speed figures of new Chevrolet Cruze are 0-100 kmph (0-62 mph) in just 9.5 seconds with a topspeed of 220 kmph (138 mph). There is a marked improvement in the acceleration and stability of the car.
The updated Cruze gets chrome door handles, front fog lamps, push start button, keyless entry and 6-way power adjustable driver seat as standard on all the trims. The exterior and dimensions of the 2012 Chevrolet Cruze remains unchanged. The company says that the Cruze has 70 per cent of localization in it, however, this amount is less than compared to what they have achieved in the Beat.
The new Chevrolet Cruze will compete with the likes of Volkswagen Jetta, Skoda Laura, Toyota Corolla Altis and Renault Fluence.
