Land Rover will be bringing the next generation of the Discovery Sport to the Indian market soon. As of now, the new Discovery Sport is set for an official release here on February 13. It will be the second generation of the Discovery Sport, which is already sold in various markets around the world.
On design, the second generation Discovery Sport has a same theme as the outgoing model. Changes on the exterior include a new grille, LED headlamps and tail-lamps, new alloy wheels and restyled bumpers on the front and rear. One significant change will be the inclusion of a spitter instead of a skid plate, which appears on the front bumper.
The interior of the vehicle is dominated by a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, also having a neat layout on its dashboard. Land Rover will offer the Discovery Sport in both petrol and diesel engine options. The former will be a 2.0 litre motor, making 245 BHP of power and 365 Nm of torque.
It will get a mild-hybrid powertrain as an option. On the other hand, there will be a 2.0 litre diesel motor, delivering 177 BHP of power and 430 Nm of torque. Both these motors will come mated to a 9-speed automatic transmission, and will adhere to the BS-VI emission norms.
We can expect the new Discovery Sport to be priced at around the Rs.45-50 lakh range when it goes on sale here. It will rival the likes of the Mercedes Benz GLC, Audi Q5, BMW X3 and the Volvo XC60 in its segment. With the new Discovery Sport, Land Rover will look to make a mark in a segment which looks a very promising one in the Indian market.
