Ford will look to update their current hatchback, the Figo for the Indian market. The American automaker will launch the facelifted version of the car by March-2019. This announcement comes as per the company’s officials in India.
Ford revealed the Figo facelift globally in April this-year. The car, sold as the Ka+ in Brazil and various European markets, went on floors in June. It will be having some significant changes in design compared to the current model.
The exterior will feature an unique honeycomb mesh grille with redesigned bumpers both at the front and rear. These changes, along with some additional features, will be taken from the recently launched facelift of the Aspire compact sedan.
The car will be feature-packed with a 6.5-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, cruise control, 15-inch alloy wheels, automatic climate control and so on. As far as its safety is concerned, it gets essentials such as dual airbags, ABS with EBD and rear parking sensors as standard equipment. The top-spec Titanium variant will be available with as many as six airbags, ESP and Traction Control System (TCS).
In all possibilities, the Figo will be offered the same set of engines as seen on the Aspire facelift. These are an 1.2-litre and a 1.5-litre, three-cylinder, Dragon series petrol motors. The diesel variant will be the 1.5-litre, four-cylinder motor seen on the current Figo.
These will come mated to a 5-speed manual transmission. When launched, the facelifted Figo will have its rivals in the form of the Maruti Suzuki Swift, Hyundai Grand i10 and the Mahindra KUV100. Ford will hope that the facelifted Figo will set the tone for them in an already competitive segment.
