2015 Bajaj Platina coming next-month, design similar to existing model!

Bajaj Auto which is one of the largest manufacturers of motor cycle in the Indian market is now all set to launch the new Platina in February-2015 as reported by Mr. Rajiv Bajaj,Managing Director of Bajaj Auto. Bajaj’s Platina initially launched back in April-2006 had obtained the decent sales figures as an entry-level motorcycle in the Indian market but recently due to new models from other manufacturing giants, Platina’s sales has reduced drastically.

With the launch of 2015 Platina, Bajaj aims to reach 24 percent increase in market share along with monthly sales of around 80,000 units of Platina in the Indian market. The test mule spotted does not feature major changes; however it is noticed to be featured with same turn signal indicators, headlights, telescopic forks, drum brakes, alloys and tail lights already seen in the outgoing model. In addition to this, Bajaj’s new Platina would feature new exhaust pipes, body graphics, body panels and colors.

Coming to the technical specifications, the current-gen Bajaj Platina is powered with the 99.27cc air-cooled motor, coupled to a 4-speed transmission producing a maximum power of 8.2 PS at 7500 RPM and a maximum torque of 8.05 NM at 4500 RPM. We expect the new Platina to be powered with recently launched Discover 100M’s 102cc motor which produces a maximum power of 9.3 PS at a maximum torque of 9.02 NM. Currently current-gen Platina 100 is priced at INR 37,044 (ex-showroom Maharashtra), the upcoming Platina is also expected to be priced aggressively to compete with entry-level motorcycles from other manufacturing giants in the Indian market.
