Mitsubishi India will finally launch the Pajero Sport on the 15th of February, 2012. The new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is basically 2008 Challenger that takes on the ‘Pajero’ name in the Asian car bazaar. It is the 2nd time the much awaited sport utility vehicle launch has been delayed because of the natural calamity in Thailand. Originally, it was Tsunami and Earthquake in Japan, in 2011 which pushed Pajero Sport to 2012.
This new car has been in news since a long time and now finally Mitsubishi has put an end to all the rumors of its launch. This SUV is masculine and bold and is expected to give a tough competition to others in the Indian auto market. Now Mitsubishi will bring in the Pajero Sport as CBU and is likely to go for the CKD kits if the response is good in the country. The CKD kits would result in Pajero Sport being manufactured at the HM’s plant located at Thiruvallur.
Powering the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will be a 2.5-litre, 16-valve intercooled turbocharged CRDI diesel motor capable of producing peak power of 135 Bhp and 320 Nm of peak torque. This engine is likely to be mated to either a 5 speed manual transmission or a 5 speed automatic transmission and is highly fuel efficient. The engine is further coupled with both manual and automatic gearbox and is said to be highly fuel efficient. The SUV has ample of space and could adjust 7 adults easily. However, talking about the price detailing, the company hasn’t revealed any, but rumor has it that the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport will cost you around Rs. 22 lakh. The SUV will directly lock horns with Toyota Fortuner and BMW X1.
