We still remember! Mercedes-Benz R-Class launched in India is probably the first article on bharathautos.com posted wayback in Dec 2010. Now the company has launched the diesel variant of the R-Class in India called the R350 CDI 4MATIC. It is priced at Rs. 58.9 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). The R350 CDI is powered by a 2987cc V6 engine mated to a 7G Tronic transmission and Mercedes claim that it will deliver fuel efficiency of 11.25kmpl.
The MPV looks similar to the petrol variant launched in Dec 2010 in India and even now it doesn’t face any competition in the segment since it will be the only car, but it will cross paths with the Audi Q7 and the base Porsche Cayenne in terms of pricing. The fully loaded version comes with bi-xenon headlamps, steel spring suspension in front and AIRmatic (Adaptive Intelligent Ride control) system featuring self-leveling air suspension in the rear to aid comfort and improve driving dynamics.
On the inside, this four-door vehicle can easily accommodate 7 full size adults, and has lots of head and elbow room for all the occupants. The third row is the most impressive – even better than the GL. The seats can be folded down to create a massive 2,385 litres of storage area. Creature comforts include three zone automatic climate control with vents even for the last row, electronically powered seats with memory function, 6-CD changer with USB interface and an electric sunroof.
