Remember that bonkers Gelandewagen that Mercedes-AMG created with six wheels in a sort of end-all-be-all of frivolous off-roaders? Well, now it seems Mercedes-AMG was onto something as a four-wheeled version of the G63 AMG 6×6 has been spotted testing in Southern Europe last-month.
Notice how jacked-up the new G63 AMG 4×4 is!
We don’t know exactly how many the company actually constructed and sold €410 000 (INR 2.85 crore) and now the reports suggest that Mercedes is working on a 4×4 version in limited quantities as a more accessible version to the 6×6. The 6×6 is still up for sale in select markets with very limited production for special order.
From the looks of it, it’s the G63 AMG 6×6 minus two wheels, which would make it the G63 AMG 4×4. It has the same wider wheel arches, side skirts, bumpers, front roof extension with auxiliary LEDs and jacked up suspension as the 6×6, but keeps the familiar G-Class five-door body (the 6×6 has a truck bed).
It’s safe to expect that the 4×4 would get Merc’s 5.5-liter turbo V8 engine generating 544 horsepower and 760 Nm of torque.
