Mercedes Benz launches B-Class Diesel Hatchback in India

As the demands for luxurious cars in the Indian market is increasing, luxurious automobile manufacturers are continuously working to introduce their range of cars in the Indian market. Mercedes Benz which has already launched four products this year since January has yet again launched the all new B-Class Diesel hatchback in India on Thursday, 11th July.

The all new Mercedes B 180 CDI Style was launched by Mr. Eberhard Kern, Managing Director and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India who was also accompanied by Bollywood celebrities Abhay Deol and Aditi Rao in Mumbai. According to the reports obtained from kemmannu.com, Mr. Eberhard Kern said that “With the B-Class we have pioneered the Luxury Tourer segment in India and the launch of the B-Class diesel will further enhance the options for the new age customers who aspire to own a luxury brand like Mercedes-Benz. The response for the B-Class petrol has been encouraging and we are confident that the new B-Class diesel will add to the demand of the car, with its new improved efficient engine, stylish characteristics and unique touring capabilities. The launch of the B-Class diesel is a continuation of Mercedes-Benz India’s product offense for 2013. We have seen a substantial demand for our new generation cars like the B-Class petrol and the A-Class in India and the B-Class diesel is a step ahead to ensure that the connoisseurs of Mercedes-Benz are always offered the best of products. The B-Class diesel is the perfect vehicle for those who are either young or young at heart and prefer to lead an active lifestyle and I am sure that this car will fascinate our discerning customers with its unique capabilities and class leading performance.”

The new B-Class features 7 airbags (including driver, front passenger, side-impact pelvis airbags for driver & front passenger, knee airbag for driver, window airbags for driver, front passenger and rear seat occupants), Brake Assist System (BAS), Hill Start Assist with HOLD function, Attention Assist, Anti lock breaking system (ABS), Electronic Stability Programme (ESP) with Acceleration Skid Control (ASR) and tyre pressure loss warning.

Apart from these features, the interiors of the B-Class diesel hatchback would comprise of new interior trim of Brown Burr Walnut with satin finish, new Audio 20 CD Infotainment System with dual tuner, MP3/WMA/AAC- compatible CD player along with USB interface and AUX-IN socket (in the centre armrest), Bluetooth interface with handsfree function, 14.7 cm color display screen on the centre console and speed sensitive volume control.

Coming to the technical specifications, B 180 CDI Style is powered with 2143 cc, 2.1-litre, 4 cylinder engine coupled with 7G-DCT, Dual Clutch Transmission with paddle shift in combination with a multi-function steering wheel which produces a maximum power of 80/109[kW/hp] at 3200-4400rpm and a maximum torque of 250 Nm at 1400-2800rpm. The new B-Class reaches top speed of 190 km/h providing an impressive mileage of 18.98 kmpl and will cost 22.6 lakhs INR (ex-showroom price Mumbai).
