Maruti Suzuki is planning to launch their much-awaited hatchback, the S-Presso to the Indian market. The S-Presso will be set for an official launch on September 30. It will be sold trough the Maruti Suzuki Arena outlets across the country.
The S-Presso will be available in nine variants, namely STD (O), LXi, LXi (O), VXi, VXi (O), VXi +, VXi AGS, VXi (O) AGS, VXi+ AGS. Leaked images suggest the vehicle will be available in a tall-boy design, similar to the Wagon-R. It will feature a high ground clearance and will share various bits from other Maruti Suzuki models.
Features include a Bluetooth-based infotainment system, central locking system and rear parking sensors on the top variants. As far as safety is concerned, the S-Presso will come equipped with ABS, dual airbags, front seat belts with pretensioners and a speed alert system as standard. Engine-wise, the S-Presso will borrow it’s powertrain from the Alto K10.
This will be a 1.0-litre, three-cylinder K10B petrol motor. It produces 68 BHP of power and 90 Nm of torque. This engine underwent an update to comply with the upcoming BS-VI norms in April 2019.
It returns an ARAI-certified mileage of 24.07 kmpl on the Alto K10, which is more than an impressive figure here. But, we can expect to see a different number coming out for the S-Presso here. This engine is offered with options of a 5-speed manual gearbox or a 5-speed automatic one.
Prices for the S-Presso start at Rs.3.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The S-Presso will be rivaling the likes of the Renault Kwid, Datsun Go and Redi-Go. Maruti Suzuki will hope that the S-Presso will adhere to the Indian consumers after it gets launched here.
