Maruti Suzuki offers Rs. 3 lakh discount on Kizashi sedan

India’s largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki has decided to offer the heavy discounts of about Rs 3 lakh on its premium sedan Kizashi. The reason is that the Maruti Kizashi sales were dwindling fast and there was no option but to offer a huge discount and at least clear the stock pile. Being a petrol only car Kizashi failed to fetch sales.

The company has been offering huge discounts on the Kizashi since some time and now, Maruti Suzuki has reduced the price of the almost non-selling sedan by as much as INR 3 lakhs. The car seems to be pricey at Rs 17.12 lakh and is a feeble offering in comparison with Honda Accord and Skoda Superb. It seems that the present discount just before the Diwali is a final attempt by the car maker to revive the model or else it must be planning to discontinue it or introduce the diesel powered model.

The Kizashi is the only car by the popular car maker and it seems that its attempt to enter the luxury car segment goes in vain. The car is offered in manual and automatic transmission options but it is a wonder why the car did not perform. Even Maruti’s marketing team wonders why a Maruti car has failed to perform in India. The experts believe that the car buyer who buys a car for Rs 17-18 lakh considers Indian brands to be feeble and less in value than the foreign cars.

Last-year, during the same period the company saw sales of 157 units and from April to August this year proved to be the darkest period for the car maker as sales dipped to as low as 23 units. Now it is believed that the car maker’s attempt to revive the Kizashi sales would prove to be fruitful with Rs. 14 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi) price tag. And we always felt that the Kizashi can do with an under Rs. 15 lakh and the recent move from the nation’s largest car maker will, get a sudden boost in sales provided it is well advertised.
