Maruti Suzuki Ciaz – all eight variants detailed

Maruti Suzuki launched the much-awaited Ciaz earlier this month, and the car has been doing pretty well, taking into consideration its sales numbers. The Ciaz is Maruti Suzuki’s answer to competition in the segment like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento etc. The Ciaz was launched by Maruti Suzuki to replace its age old predecessor, the Maruti Suzuki SX4. We shall now take a look at the different variants on sale and also their features and the equipment being offered with each of them.

The Ciaz is available with both, a petrol as well as a diesel engine. The petrol engine is the same 1.4-liter 91 BHP engine, which can also be found under the hood of the petrol powered Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and the diesel engine powering the Ciaz is the 1.3-liter MultiJet engine, also found under the hood of the Ertiga as well as the outgoing SX4.

The nomenclature of the four different trim levels of Ciaz, for the petrol powered variants are Vxi, Vxi+, Zxi and Zxi+ and the nomenclature for the diesel powered Ciaz include Vdi, Vdi+, Zdi and Zdi+ and here is a small write-up on the major differences existing between these variants. Additionally, the petrol gets 2 automatic variants – Vxi+ and Zxi.

While all other Maruti Suzuki cars’ trim levels start from the base Lxi or Ldi trim, the Ciaz has the Vxi/Vdi trim as the base level variant which shows that the level of equipment that comes as standard is already pretty high. Maruti Suzuki has positioned the Ciaz as a premium product in its line-up and has provided a lot in terms of equipment.

On these high end trim levels, the Smartplay infotainment system has been made available, combined with full leather upholstery including leather wrapped steering wheel and leather wrapped gear knob. The Zxi+ and Zdi+ trims ride on bigger, better looking 16-inch alloy wheels.
