The country’s largest passenger vehicle maker Maruti Suzuki India (MSI), is in top gear and mulling over launch a large series of new car models in India. MSI is planning to launch 15 to 20 new cars in India by 2015 which will provide a large choice to Maruti car lovers. In these 15 to 20 upcoming Maruti cars in India, small cars will have 70 to 80 per cent dividend. Currently, the company is achieve buzz response to it’s newly launched the 2011 version of premium hatchback Maruti Swift.
Five of the new products that they are planning to launch are already being developed in the advanced stages. Maruti Suzuki was likely to launch Swift Dzire, sub-4 metre, at the Auto Expo 2012 in Delhi. This would be further followed by the multipurpose automobile based on R-III concept, Ritz backlift, A-Star facelift and a new generation of Alto 800 to be launched by 2013. Rest of new Maruti car models will make their presence in India by 2014-15.
To launch all these new Maruti cars in India the company will invest Rs 1,000-1,500 crore on product development, including its upcoming R&D unit at Rohtak, over the next three-five years. The new organic Rohtak facility will be operational by the first half of 2014. The Maruti ensure to use fuel economical powerplants and innovative features in these upcoming Maruti cars in India. For it the MSI is working on future product portfolio strategy with its headquarters in Japan. So now the company is again in top gear and has planned to bring a bundle of new cars in India.
Mr I.V. Rao, the chief executive of Maruti Suzuki India is reported to have said that Indian engineers play a big role in the product development, not only for India, but also for the global products as well. Mr Rao is also said to have added that, with the involvement of Indian engineers, they will be able to keep track of the continuous changes taking place in the Indian market, which is influenced by the customer expectations and ever changing competition. Apparently, the Suzuki Motor Corp has decided to merge their R&D facility with the Indian R&D department in near future and Mr. Rakesh Batra, partner and national director of Ernst and Young, also shares his opinion that the Indian R& D facility with greater responsibility will only help in future developments.
