Maruti Suzuki may not be the only one to recall the diesel cars manufactured between 13 November 2010 and 4 December 2010. Diesel cars from Tata Motors and Fiat may also be affected.
Maruti has recalled over 13,000 cars to fix a faulty connecting rod bolt. The faulty bolt has been traced to an Italian supplier. The batch of defective bolts had been made with raw materials that were not to specification and hence, their durability has been compromised. Since Fiat and Tata also use the same 1.3 Fiat Multi-jet diesel engine, the chances of these defective bolts finding their way into these cars cannot be ruled out.
