Maruti Suzuki has launched the Dzire with an Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) as an option only in the top-end ZDi variant priced at Rs 8.39 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi).
The AMT gearbox which is dubbed as AGS (Auto Gear Shift) by Maruti is only be available in top-of-the-line ZDi variant on the Dzire. The car continues to be powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine (Fiat MultiJet) which is capable of 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque. Certified at 26.59 kmpl, the ARAI rated fuel efficiency of the Dzire AMT is same as the manual variant.
The ZDi variant comes equipped with features such as an engine start / stop button, automatic climate control, electrically foldable ORVMs and 15″ alloy wheels. As far as safety is concerned, this variant gets dual front airbags, ABS + EBD and reverse parking sensors. A total of 7 colours are on offer – Pearl Arctic White, Silky Silver, Cave Black, Pacific Blue, Magma Grey, Alp Blue and Sangria Red.
The Maruti Dzire ZDi is priced at a premium of Rs. 49,000 over the ZDi manual transmission variant. It is the fourth car in Maruti’s line-up to get an AMT, after the Celerio, Alto K10 and Wagon R, but first diesel model to feature the popular AMT gearbox; will directly compete with the Tata Zest.
