Mahindra Xylo Mini to be launched in August, followed by Verito CS

Mahindra Xylo Mini

Just last week, we reported that Mahindra is all-set to launch its six new models by March 2013. However, names of all new six cars were not announced but Mahindra Xylo Mini and under four meters Mahindra Verito will be a part of these six cars as we reported because these two new cars have been already spied in the country.

“In the next couple of months, we will have our compact SUV and by the end of the year, we will launch the sub-four metre Verito. These new products will enable our sales to grow further this fiscal” Mahindra & Mahindra, Chief Executive (Automotive Division), Mr.Pravin Shah said.

When Mr. Shah stated the compact SUV, this gave rise to rumors which suggested that he was not referring to the Mini Xylo because the Xylo is a MUV. One of the leading automobile blog even reported there are referring to the all new sub-Scorpio SUV to sell alongside its current range. As M&M is famous for its rigorous testing methods before the official launch, so far no spy pictures appeared on the web even when the launch nears. However, the compact SUV which the company is talking about could be the Mahindra Xylo Mini.

However, the compact SUV which the company is talking about could be the Mahindra Xylo Mini. Mahindra did not hint at the name of this compact SUV, therefore chances are high that this SUV could get a new name. If we refer to it as a SUV then it would fall in the category of Renault Duster and Ford EcoSport. There are lot of spy images and scoops about the car been wired on net but now finally the car will be launched in the market by August-2012, before the festive season.

Mahindra Verito CS

On the other-hand, the good news is that the compact sedan (CS) version of the Verito will be launched in December-2012. The car will have a length less than 4-meters, which will make it eligible for the tax benefits provided by the government which means that the cost of the car will decrease. This small car in India attracts 12 percent excise duty in comparison to the medium sized cars which have 24 percent excise duty.

The regulations of Indian Imports say that the car must be less than 4-meters in length with a petrol engine under 1200cc and the diesel engine under 1500cc. The Mahindra Verito CS is expected to have a 1461cc diesel engine incorporated in the car. The tradition of Mahindra tells that the petrol version of the car may not be an option.

(NoteBoth the actual car may differ from the model shown above)

What we say? The chances are high that this compact SUV could get a new name. Talking about the Verito CS, we still doubt if that would be a huge version of a hatchback just like Honda Jazz or a squeezed sedan like Tata Indigo CS and Maruti Swift Dzire.
