Mahindra XUV300 (S201) compact SUV interior spied, may launch by end of 2018

Mahindra is planning to bring another compact SUV to the fiercely contested segment, codenamed the S201. It will be the homegrown automaker’s third offering in the segment, after the KUV100 and the TUV300. As far as launch is concerned, Mahindra are likely to launch the car by the end of the year.

From the spyshots, the KUV 100 borrowed Steering Wheel is evident also is the large Touchscreen Infotainment System probably an 7-inch one.

The S201 is basically the SsangYong Tivoli, which is sold in other countries. It was showcased in the 2016 Auto Expo, and many changes are set to take place on the vehicle when launched here. One of them will be placing the car below the sub-4 metre mark in length.

The Tivoli showcased at the 2016 Auto Expo measures 4,195 mm in length, which would market it as a mid-size SUV. But, considering that Mahindra are working on a mid-size SUV, they opted to scale down the ‘Tivoli’ and codename it the ‘S201’. Mahindra is expected to give the Tivoli features like a 7-inch Touchscreen Infotainment System, ABS with EBD, Automatic Hill Assist, a pair of airbags, cruise control and so-on.

The upcoming SsangYong Tivoli based five-seater compact SUV codenamed S201 is likely to be named Mahindra XUV300.

Rivals include the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport and the Tata Nexon. Expect the S201 to come at an aggressive price, which may start at below Rs. 8 lakhs. With the S201, Mahindra will look to grab attention from the segment that has eluded them till now, and with the S201, it looks like a good move by the automaker.
