But if you’re waiting to see the next-gen model… keep waiting. The Scorpio is due for one more facelift in 2014 before an all-new model arrives 2017-18.
The facelift will tell the same old story with some upgraded touches including front and rear portions of this SUV so as to make it look different from the existing version of Scorpio. It is expected that with an objective of giving Scorpio more sporty look Mahindra will integrate newly developed front grille followed by new bumpers which will play an important role in giving Scorpio more fascinating look. On the inside, Scorpio facelift will get upmarket interiors and try to make it more spacious.
Under the hood, the facelift Scorpio will carry the same 2.2-litre mHawk turbo diesel engine that now produces 120 BHP with 290 Nm, but is speculated to boost 140 BHP with slight tune. And a 2.5-litre m2DiCR turbo diesel motor that churns out 75 BHP with 220 Nm will also be an option. Both rear wheel drive and all-wheel-drive versions of this big and butch SUV will be available. However, the Scorpio facelift will only be available with 5-speed manual gearbox, while the 6-speed auto box would no longer be available on the Scorpio facelift, even as option.
The Scorpio facelift has been codenamed ‘W105′, currently the SUV is in early stage of development, as per Economic Times the launch is scheduled to June-2014. From the spy pictures, it is evident that there is no change to the side profile of the SUV, although we can make-out that it comes with a highly revised front and rear-end. Also, the alloys are different and a possibility of 17”inch tyres.
