Automobile major Mahindira and Mahindra Monday said that it has become the official intervention and support vehicle partner to the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) which will host the inaugural Indian grand prix next month.
“Mahindra will provide 25 Scorpios as the official intervention and support vehicles to the BIC over the next five years and for various motor sports including the Formula-1 race,” the company said in a statement.
According to the company, the fleet of sports utility vehicles (SUV) would include 10 Scorpio VLX 4wd (4-wheel drive) and 15 Scorpio Getaway 4wd (4-wheel drive). In turn, BIC said that it will support the company’s adventure initiatives that will take place on the track throughout the year.
“This partnership is in line with our goal to promote motor sport. This (partnership) will also enhance our other initiatives that we have taken in Moto GP races,” Vivek Nayer, senior vice president, marketing, automotive division, Mahindra and Mahindra told reporters on the sidelines of an event here.
The automobile major did not disclose any financial details of the partnership, but said that the association with BIC will promote further connect between motor sport enthusiasts and the company.
