Mahindra KUV100. That’s the name the home-grown brand has chosen for its new S101 B-segment crossover, which will make Mahindra’s entry into hatchback segment.
Previous reports have speculated that it could be called ‘Mahindra XUV100’, now the trusted source reveal the logic behind naming this vehicle as KUV100 is that Mahindra did not want to weaken the XUV500 brand (commonly known as XUV in the mass-market) with a smaller and cheaper vehicle.
AutoCarIndia says in the ‘KUV100’ moniker ‘K’ stands for “Kompact”. The company stays true to tradition of ending a vehicle’s name with ‘O’ even with the newcomer. The KUV100 will be available in all-new 3-cylinder 1.2-litre petrol as well as diesel versions, mated to a 5-speed manual transmission as standard, while one of them at the least gets a 5-speed AMT variant too.
Mahindra has scheduled an event to officially announce the name of this B-segment crossover on December 18th, 2015.
