Mahindra Adventure ‘Royal Escape 2013’
Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. (M&M), India’s leading SUV manufacturer, recently concluded the ‘Royal Escape 2013’, under the Mahindra Adventure umbrella brand. This third edition of the Royal Escape was held between December 26, 2013 and January 1, 2014 and saw a convoy of 25 expedition ready Mahindra Scorpios trail driving their way through unexplored Rajasthan.
The journey commenced in New Delhi and the brigade of Mahindra vehicles drove past mustard fields, before hitting the signature terrain of Rajasthan – the bushy sand dunes merging seamlessly into the horizon. The 2,000 km drive over 6 days was interspersed with dirt tracks, sand patches, rough roads, long straight roads and sand dune bashing.
While it was mostly about disciplined convoy driving on the tarmac, the participants got their share of off-roading thrills on a dune bashing trip to the Sam dunes in the faraway deserts of Jaisalmer. The royal boarding and lodging at genuine palace hotels in each location and the various lunch halts at centuries old havelis, characterized by their ostentatious carvings and frescoes, added to the regal experience. Participants also got a once in a lifetime opportunity to ring in the New Year in the lap of utmost royalty, before making their way back to New Delhi.
The convoy travelled across Rajasthan and enroute passed through the arid semi desert of Alsisar, the Golden city of Jaisalmer, onto the Sam dunes and then to the lakeside palace and sanctuary of Gajner before reaching the princely state of Bikaner, the final destination on this magical trip.

- Day 1 – 27th Dec 2013 – Flag-off from Delhi to Alsisar
- Day 2 – 28th Dec 2013 – Alsisar to Jaisalmer
- Day 3 – 29th Dec 2013 – Stay in Jaisalmer
- Day 4 – 30th Dec 2013 – Jaisalmer to Gajner
- Day 5 – 31st Dec 2013 – Gajner to Bikaner (New year celebrations)
- Day 6 – 01st Jan 2014 – Bikaner to Delhi
