In Feb-2013, we reported our readers that Tata Motors in collaboration with Jaguar Land Rover is planning to update the Tata Sumo Grande in order to compete with the likes of Mahindra Xylo and Toyota Innova. This update would have resemblances of the very famous Land Rover Evoque.

The sketches which has been released all over the web depicted as Tata Sumo Grande facelift is actually not the facelifted Sumo Grande. By the views provided by one of our readers and then having a detailed view of the video available, it is clear that the sketches actually belong to Tata Safari Storme design development in its initial phase. On comparing the sketches with the video below, you will realize that the news of Sumo facelift drawing inspiration from the Evoque is nothing but a hoax.

Tata Motors has already taken help from the Land Rover engineers in the development of Tata Aria Crossover which was a success and has become the Tata Motors flagship product. Expectation from Tata Motors has increased after its collaboration. Both Tata Motors and Land Rover engineers worked together in Safari Storme.

Now the duo is said to be working on a refreshed version of Tata Safari Storme that is expected to have upgrades in the engine, feature and interiors. It has already clicked in the market both on road and off-road. Coming to the technical specifications, it would be powered with 2.2-litre Varicor Engine with a maximum power of 160bhp at a maximum torque of 400 Nm.

The interiors will comprise of dual-tone leather seats, dual-tone door flaps and dashboard. A little bit of dashboard and the door handles too will be given vinyl treatment. Best of all Tata Safari Storme will be provided with a premium sound system developed by Harman Kardon that comprise of sub woofer, amplifier and surround speakers due to which Safari Storme will be the first Indian car to have a specially designed complete sound system.
