Italian sports car maker, Lamborghini has officially launched its flagship model the all new Aventador LP700-4 Roadster in India today priced at Rs 4.77 crore (ex-showroom, Delhi), which makes it one of the most expensive supercars on-sale in India. This car was first unveiled in November-2012 and within three months of its official debut globally, now it comes to India.
This shows the company’s commitment towards the India auto sector. Lamborghini India sold 17 cars in 2012, registering a 21% increase in sales compared to 2011. And for 2013, Lamborghini India has set higher targets. The House of the Raging Bull, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Lamborghini India participated in the celebrations by giving Indian car buyers the option of buying their fastest roadster ever, Aventador LP 700-4 Roadster.
Coming back to the Aventador Roadster, the new roof has brought with it some design changes to the Aventador Roadster over the coupe. The rear pillars have been redesigned to give the car greater strength when the roof is removed. They also offer rollover protection and supply extra ventilation to the engine.
Furthermore, to distinguish the Aventador Roadster from the coupe, the bodywork gets a two-tone finish. Gloss black is used for the pillars, roof and rear window area. A new Azzuro Thetis colour is inspired by the colour of the 1968 Miura Roadster, is also offered on the Roadster. New 20-inch front and 21-inch rear lightweight alloy wheels, which reduce the kerb weight by 10kg, are another Roadster-only addition.
Unlike the Lamborghini Murcielago Roadster, the Aventador roadster forgoes the soft-top fabric roof for a lightweight, two-piece hard top made from carbon fiber which weighs just 6kg. It can be removed manually by hand in ‘a few seconds’ and stored in the front luggage compartment when not in use.
Power for the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster comes from the same 6.5-litre V12 in the coupe making 700-hp. It accelerates from 0 to 100 kph in only 3 seconds flat and has a maximum speed of some 350 kph. An ISR 7-speed gearbox and push-rod suspension make the new Aventador Roadster a unique super sports car with no direct competition.
The bookings for the Lamborghini Aventador Roadster will start in February and first deliveries will commence by June-2013.
