Kia Motors are all set to enter the Indian market next year. The Korean automaker is currently busy in developing a factory in Anantapur district in Andhra Pradesh. When opened next year, it will have an initial capacity to produce 300,000 vehicles a year.
The automaker has lined up quite a few exciting products that will hit Indian shores soon. These include a mid-size SUV, compact sedan and SUV, premium SUV and so on. However, one model that the automaker is keen on developing is a premium hatchback.
This is mainly due to the immense popularity of premium hatchbacks here, namely the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and the Hyundai i20. Codenamed the KP1, it will launch alongside a mid-size sedan, which has the codename KP2. As per reports, Kia vendors in India have been approved of the project by the company’s headquarters in South Korea.
We can expect both of them in all likelihood to arrive by 2020. As of now, Kia is concentrating on the Trazor mid-size SUV, based on the SP Concept, which will officially be their first product launch in India next-year. Kia will also look upon parent company Hyundai to gather some knowledge and expertise about the Indian market and its conditions.
