Kia Motors have revealed that the Carnival MPV will be set for a launch in the Indian market. The Carnival is reportedly set to be launching in mid-2019. This comes after months of speculation on whether Kia will bring the vehicle to India.
Kia did showcase the Carnival MPV recently along with their newly built facility located in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh. The Carnival will be launching here via the CKD route. Internationally, Kia offers the Carnival MPV in as many as four seating versions.
These include versions of 7-seater, 8-seater, 9-seater and 11-seater configurations. It looks likely that the 7-seater version will be getting the nod for India. However, the 8-seater version can also be considered given that its rivals offer that luxury.
The Carnival will derive it’s power source from an R 2.2 E-VGT motor. This motor makes 199 BHP of power and 441 Nm of torque. It will come mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission.
Despite the taxes to be levied on the Carnival for being a CKD unit, Kia may be pricing the vehicle at a range touching the Rs.20 lakh mark. The Carnival will rival the likes of the Toyota Innova Crysta Tata Hexa and the Renault Lodgy. We can expect the Carnival to be a feature-packed and safety-laden product which can cause a stir in the market.
