Tata Motors are all set to launch their much-awaited compact SUV Nexon on September 21, 2017. The bookings for the compact SUV are already commenced, while deliveries are set to take place at the end of this month or early next-month.
The Nexon is powered by an in-house developed Revotorq 1.5-litre diesel engine producing 110 BHP of power and a 1.2-litre Revotron petrol engine producing 69 BHP of power. Both versions will get a 6-speed standard gearbox with the option of an AMT at later stage. A big surprise is that the Nexon will have a turbo 1.2-litre petrol as well.
Interiors have been given a conservative look barring the 6.5 inch touch screen system above the dash. Other features may include dual-front airbags, ABS, Isofix child seat mounts, climate control and an innovative ‘Grand Central Console’, in the cabin with a sliding door near the transmission, and hooks to hold coats and umbrellas.
The coupé-like roofline and stance will surely entice buyers and the new-age styling cannot be ignored. It remains to be seen whether the Tata will be able to fulfill its hype beginning a year ago. The Nexon will be the first-in-class to have multiple arrive modes, which could work in its favour.
All the variants will be offered in a petrol MT or diesel MT configuration, with a total of five exterior paint shades on offer – Moroccan blue, Vermont red, Seattle silver, Glasgow grey and Calgary white, and a total of 4 trim levels – XE, XM, XT and XZ+. Aggressively priced is one that Nexon is likely to possess, at around 7-10 lakhs which could well give the Maruti Vitara Brezza and Ford Ecosport a tough time.
