Kawasaki fans might have a reason to cheer as Bajaj Auto scheduled to launch the much-awaited 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 250R on 10th April in the Indian market. As we said before, KTM too is scheduled to launch the much-awaited KTM Duke 390 on the same date in India. As you know, both the bikes are coming-out from Bajaj Auto’s womb and both the motorcycles have been caught testing in Indian roads on few occasions and there is enough pictures of the duo test-mules on the web.
Although the launch of both the bikes has been confirmed by the KTM Dealer in Delhi (KTM Lajpat Nagar), we predict that Bajaj Auto will officially launch the 2013 Kawasaki Ninja 300R sportsbike in India, but the KTM Duke 390 will be just unveiled like in the case of Pulsar 200 NS. Bajaj Auto first unveiled the Pulsar 200 NS in a media event, a couple of months before the actual launch of the motorcycle. At the event, Bajaj Auto might release the specifications of the India-spec Duke 390.
Coming back to the Ninja 300R, there has been a huge demand of the 250cc segment bikes recently and all major bike makers have launched their bikes to compete with other companies. By launching a 300cc bike Kawasaki will not only be able beat the competition, but also bring a whole new biking experience to the Indian market. Kawasaki will continue to sell its Ninja 250R alongside the new Ninja 300R to make sure they give more options to its buyers and also to keep the competition with other bikes.
The power house of the new Ninja 300R will be a liquid cooled, 296cc, parallel twin, fuel injected engine with dual throttle valves, which will produce 38.8bhp of power at 11,000rpm and a torque of 28 Nm@10000rpm. The power will be transmitted to the rear wheel via a 6-speed manual transmission. The bike will be available in White, Black, Green and Red. The Kawasaki Ninja 300R features ABS globally but it is unclear whether Kawasaki will offer ABS with the Indian model or not.
As per the KTM Dealer in Delhi (KTM Lajpat Nagar), the new KTM will be priced in the range of Rs. 2.2 – 2.5 lakh, while the Ninja 300R is expected to be priced between Rs. 3.5 – 3.8 lakh. Both the prices mentioned here are on-road Delhi.
The bookings for the new Ninja 300R has already started at most of the KTM Bajaj Probiking dealers. We can’t wait to have hands on this one…!!!!
