In September-2012, Kawasaki unveiled a slightly bigger Ninja 300R that replaces Ninja 250 in most markets. But in India both the products will be sold along side. The Ninja 250R is the fastest bike in the entry-level segment and it has no straight competition. So the biggest competition for the Ninja 300R is Ninja 250R itself.
We knew Kawasaki has began testing the Ninja 300 in India last-year itself. But at the moment we didn’t have any spy pictures to have it confirmed. Now half a year later, the folks at PowerDrift spotted this ‘on test’ machine around the Bajaj’s plant in Pune and the rider riding the bike appears to be a Bajaj employee considering his traditional white T-shirt/dark trouser attire.
Green Goblin followers in India has another reason to cheer, the sources in the web reveal that bookings for the Ninja 300R have unofficially commenced and it can be booked against a token amount of Rs.6,000/- at a few Probiking dealers with Kawasaki Ninja 300R India release date being in June-2013 onwards, as was the case initially with the Honda CBR250R booking.
Under the skin, the Ninja 300R is powered by a 4-stroke 296cc engine in parallel twin set-up with digital ignition that produces maximum power of 39 PS @ 11,000 rpm and 27nm of torque @ 10,000 rpm. The engine carries liquid- cooled fuel injected DOHC with 8 valves ensures prompt power supply. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox, which has a slipper clutch.
The prices of the Ninja 300R hasn’t been officially declared yet, we expect it to cost around Rs. 3.75 lakh.
