Jeep is currently working on a sub 4-metre SUV, which is set for launch next year. The American marquee will look to cash-in on the growing demand for compact SUV’s with this model. Reports say that the compact SUV will be based on the Renegade, which is currently on-sale in India.
There has been no official confirmation of the model yet, but expect it to take place more sooner than later. The company may confirm this model on the basis of the success it received with the launch of the Compass mid-size SUV last year. The automaker will unveil its five-year product plan in India in June 2018.
It will share its platform with the Jeep Renegade, which measures 4260mm in length. Sources say that the Compact SUV will be built in Europe, but we can see the possibility of the vehicle produced in India as well. The Jeep Compass is built in Fiat’s Ranjangaon plant in Pune, so we can see the Compact SUV also getting the same treatment.
Jeep will look to price the Compact SUV aggressively, as they did with the Compass, which in turn resulted in good sales numbers. It will rival the likes of the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford Ecosport and the Tata Nexon in the sub 4-metre segment. As of now, we can say that Jeep’s future product-line in India looks promising.
