Jawa have returned to the Indian market. The czechoslovakian company has appeared here after a gap of 22 years. This has happened in partnership with Mahindra and Mahindra, who are targeting the affordable end of the tourer motorcycle segment.
Jawa have recently launched two new products, namely the Jawa 42 and the Jawa 300. While the former is priced at Rs.1.55 lakh, the latter can be bought for Rs.1.62 lakh. Apart from them, the company has also showcased the custom-built Jawa Perak, which will go on-sale later on.
Both the Jawa 42 and the Jawa 300 come powered by a single-cylinder, 293cc engine. This engine applies to the BS-VI emission norms and comes with a 6-speed gearbox. ABS is present on both models, along with a telescopic front suspension.
Jawa will build their motorcycles at the Pitamputra plant located in Madhya Pradesh. The company will stick to their retro-classic design theme reminiscent of various 70’s motorcycles. Jawa will have independent dealerships across the country to take care of the sales.
Bookings have already opened for the Jawa 42 and the Jawa 300 and customers can book them online. They will rival the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Bajaj Dominar and the Mahindra Mojo. We can expect Jawa to make a mark here, given the culture fan following it has received here over the decades.
